Do you see all that candy corn?? There’s five different flavors of candy corn in that bag (thank you, Grandma!). This is what happens when you go to the candy store in the square with your grandma on Family Weekend. It’s a pretty awesome experience, I must say. And, it offers new fun places to take pictures.
The square at night is super pretty, don’t you think?
Having fun at the movie night
There’s the cutest little (actually, it’s huge. I’ve gotten lost inside multiple times) used book store in downtown Denton. It’s a super fun place too wander around in. In their children’s section they have a door decorated to look like Platform 9 3/4, which I think is super awesome. I wanted to take pictures there, but there were too many children around, and I thought their parents would judge me if I started taking random pictures with a door… I took pictures in the botanical section instead, as it was pretty deserted. I wore The Dress as a shirt with a flowy (a little too flowy, it blew quite a bit in the wind today) white skirt, blue beads from my great grandma, a purple necklace with matching purple earrings, and blue and purple converse. Stay tuned for more adventures around Denton as Family Weekend continues! See you tomorrow!
Hooray for October! I am ridiculously excited about what this year’s October Dress Project is going to bring. I decided to try something a bit more challenging this year: patterns. Although I don’t anticipate it being too hard, especially because I don’t really have a problem with mixing patterns (good thing my mom isn’t here to give her opinion, she hates mixing patterns). Anyway, I’ve gotten loads of compliments on The Dress already today (including someone saying “look at you, looking the way you look.” which I don’t really know what that means, but she was smiling so I’ll take it as a compliment). I bought The Dress at Plato’s Closet, but it’s Forever 21 by brand. It was only $10, so if this month ruins it I won’t be out much. I kept it pretty simple today, with just a paper bead necklace (a gift from my mom), “oxford” black flats (thrifted $8), a striped bow (a gift from one of my guitar students), and zebra print earrings which I got so long ago I can’t remember where. See you tomorrow!
It was FREEZING this morning! I scraped ice off my car before heading to class this morning. So I went with lots of layers today! I actually had a black and gray scarf this morning, but I forgot to put it on for the picture..
I wore The Dress with a gray and black argyle sweater (which I haven’t worn since last October Dress Project…), faux leather jacket, which was a gift from a friend this past spring, a scarf earlier today, heart earrings, two necklaces, and my sparkly TOMS. Happy Day Nine!
Today was a lazy day. Not that I didn’t get a lot done, but I did all things that I wanted to do. I spent all morning working on my project for my art appreciation class (it’s almost done and looks totally awesome, if you ask me) and watching Once Upon a Time (because who wants to glue tiny pieces of paper together without watching tv at the same time?). Then I realized that it was noon and I had to leave the house in 40 minutes. I hadn’t showered or eaten breakfast or lunch yet. So as I rushed to get ready I thought, I’m only going one place today, I’ll just wear something boring so I don’t waste a good ODP outfit on a boring day. So I just threw this on. It kind of backfired though because I really like this outfit after all. Oh well, maybe I’ll repeat it at the end of the month.
Although I believe it’s a totally rational fear.
So I paired the dress with a chambrey top, black beads, black “pear” earrings, a bracelet one of my piano students gave me, a bracelet a friend brought back from Cambodia for me (I was cat-sitting for her), and my sparkly TOMS.
Day One! I kept it simple for today, there’ll be plenty of days to layer! If you missed my post yesterday, you can read how I altered the dress here. You can see all of last year’s outfits here. Today I wore The Dress, my pink and blue plaid shoes ($6 at Payless like 5 years ago), my new rose gold watch (Walmart, $13), vintage pink earrings (thrift store, $0.53), and my stained glass-esque elephant necklace (mall kiosk, $1).
Guess what guys…I went shopping on Wednesday! Which means NEW (to me) CLOTHES! Which is pretty much my favorite thing ever, besides spending time with my family and friends, which can be done while shopping, so that’s pretty awesome. So I got this dress at one of the thrift stores my mom and I went to for like $6. It reminds me of a flower and will from now on be known as my petal dress. It’s getting way cold here (it was in the 30’s last night) and the dress is strapless so I had to wear a little sweater (purchased at a garage sale for $0.50) and tights to keep warm. I wanted to pair it with these super cute new heels that I purchased, but I thought that would be too dressy for Bible Study and school, so I went with my silver sparkly TOMS. I’m also wearing my spoon ring (tutorial found here), charm bracelet, treble clef earrings, and black and gray headband. Thoughts?
I love presents. Giving them, getting them, watching other people get them, pretty much anything to do with presents is my favorite thing ever. My grandma sent me a present out of the blue the other day and it is SUPER cute! It’s a purple scarf with a medallion on it so it’s a necklace and a scarf all in one! It’s pretty awesome. I paired it with my zebra print skirt, a purple tank with a white top over it, and my black sandals.
