ODP Day 23 – Puddles

Hello reader,

Remember the rain from yesterday? It didn’t go away. Remember my idea to wear rain boots today? Well I did that, but it turns out my rain boots have lots of holes in them… Oh well, it gave me a reason to dance barefoot in the puddles.
Also, can I just say that having a vegan friend is so fun. I could never dedicate my life to being vegan, but having a reason to experiment with vegan recipes is quite exciting. Enter: vegan dirty chai cinnamon rolls. So. Good. Definitely will make again.

Today also begins the RSM Fall Retreat. I’m super psyched! Hooray for small group bonding and talking about Jesus šŸ™‚ now if only we could get a teeny respite from the rain…

ODP Day 21 – Favorite

Hello reader,

This is my new favorite of the ODP 2015 looks. I knew from the very beginning of the month that I wanted to pair the dress and this skirt, but I was saving it for a day I wanted to look especially cute. Today I had an exam in Neurophysiology, and my theory for exams is “look great, feel great, do great.” It’s worked twice so far for this class!
Another thing that’s my favorite: pockets. Hello random places to hold pencils! Is it normal to keep pencils in the pockets of your skirt? I’m not sure, but I’ve never been super concerned with being normal…

Also: dirty chai lattes, especially when they’re free, are my favorite. Sometimes (often, actually) I forget how much I LOVE coffee. This concept doesn’t make sense, because I drink coffee practically nonstop (this is not an exaggeration). But almost every time I take that first blissful sip of coffee, a calm, warm feeling fills me from the inside out. Pure heaven, y’all.

Wow, look at those roots! I quite rarely see the complete top of my head; it’s an interesting view… Time to brainstorm the next color change! Lavender?

Chai Spiced Cookies

Ā Do those not look incredibly delicious? I thought so too. They also taste delicious, in case you were wondering! I had to make a dessert for the dinner we were going to tonight and the choice was between these and another incredible recipe that you can look forward to hearing about as soon as I (haha, my mom) restock the brown sugar. Needless to say, I made these because we didn’t have any brown sugar. They’re the perfect mix between crunchy on the edges and chewy in the middle. They would be perfect with a cup of tea. You should definitely make them and let me know what you think!

Chai Spiced CookiesĀ (recipe foundĀ here)
2 3/4 C Flour
1 t Baking Soda
1/2 t Baking Powder
1/2 t Salt
1 3/4 C White Sugar
2 1/2 t Cinnamon
1 t Ginger
1 tĀ Cardamom
1/2 t Allspice
1/4 t PepperĀ
1 C Butter
1 Egg
1/2 t Vanilla
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix sugar and spices together. Take out 1/4 C of the sugar and spice (see what I did there?) mixture to roll the cookies in. Add the butter, egg, and vanilla. Add the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Roll into small balls and roll in the sugar and spice mixture. Bake 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Enjoy!Ā
